‘Graduates Guarantee Innovation & Inspiration’

A brand new collection of innovative contemporary craft pieces will be exhibited at the Birmingham School of Jewellery’s 2009 degree show.   This summer’s Jewellery & Silversmithing graduates will be showcasing their work at The School of Jewellery, in The Jewellery Quarter from Saturday 13th June until Wednesday the 24th June (excluding both Sundays, and Thursday 18th - closed for prize judging).

This collection of work has never been seen before and is the culmination of a three years Bachelor of Art (Hons) Degree.  Their work ranges from large-scale catwalk pieces, to precision made gold jewellery and engaging tableware.  This is a one-off opportunity to view and purchase work by new craft designers on the cusp of international recognition.

The RIBA Award-winning building in which the graduates have studied has been home to a School of Jewellery since the late 1880’s and it is now Europe’s largest institution for training and education across the specialisation.  The School’s head is renowned narrative jeweller Professor Jack Cunningham.

He says:

‘Staff at the school are experts in their field and support award winning students through their chosen course and into professional life.’

Work will also be on show from the BA (Design for Industry), HND, ND, Horology and Gemmology courses which are also taught in The School, offering an insight into a unique portfolio of courses.
